NEW LAW & REGULATIONS

''Fashion chains must collect old clothes''

The UPV, Extended Producer Responsibility for Textiles is expected to come into effect on January 1, 2023.

The UPV will apply to all parties that bring clothing on the Dutch market. In addition to consumer clothing, the UPV also applies to company clothing.

Denimtex encourages companies to create their own circular economy with corporate clothing. Take a look at the  project  of ABN AMRO, Circl Pavilion for inspiration.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

''Responsible consumption and production''

Since 2015, the United Nations (UN) have drawn up seventeen goals to make the world a better place by 2030. Also known as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The goals are a compass for challenges such as poverty, education and the climate crisis.

Denimtex sees goal 12: responsible consumption and production as a challenge. The targets associated with this are as follows:

  • Environmentally friendly management of chemicals and waste throughout their life cycle

  • Limit emissions to air, water and soil

  • Limiting waste production through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse

LIFE CYCLE ANALYSIS

''Making CO2 emissions measurable''

The clothing industry currently emits more than international air and sea transport combined. Due to fast fashion, the demand for cheap clothing is growing, which also increases the environmental impact of, for example, jeans.

Denimtex believes that this must change and want to do something about this by reducing CO2 emissions by offering wall decorations of jeans and other types of textiles to extend the life of textiles.
